About the Recreation Program
Recreation Chair:  Judy Burlbaugh

The Ski Club's Recreation Program encompasses those outdoor activities not falling under Social, Sports, Tennis, Sailing or Skiing. It focuses on leisure and recreation on land as well as water, including hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing/rafting, and horseback riding. On these pages we will bring you the latest schedule of these activities.

Beaches & Resorts: Involve trips to local as well as more exotic beaches and resorts. For our beach-bums or just sun-loving folks, we bring you bus, or carpooling trips to the local beaches, whether for a long weekend or an entire week. For the more adventurous ones, we follow the sun and fly you to the warmer climates during our fall, winter or late spring months.

Biking:  Includes single day as well as weekend rides on local country roads and bike paths, and are aimed principally at the intermediate and novice riders rather than the more experienced "racers". Occasional trips of longer duration to more remote destinations may also be arranged.

Hiking: Offers hikes that fall in three categories – Casual Hikes of brief duration covering distances of less than 5-miles to local destinations, and are considered easy to moderate; Adventure Hikes of day-long duration to nearby mountains, covering distances greater than 4-miles and elevation changes of 800 ft or more; Hiking Excursions to more remote domestic or international locations, of several days duration.

River/Water Events: Encompass various activities and sports on local lakes, streams, rivers and estuaries, including rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, and water-skiing.

Other Recreations:  May involve such diverse activities as horseback riding, rollerblading, ice-skating and other recreational past-times, depending on the demands of our members and the willingness of our volunteers to organize, schedule and lead them.
