Potomac Riverside Memorial Hike - Washington, DC
Date and Time: Saturday, June 8th 10 AM - 12 PM Noon-ish
Leader: David Burd
Distance and Difficulty: 5-6 miles, Easy
Directions: Meet at the cafe end of the Lady Bird Johnson Park parking lot, also known as Columbia Island Marina. Entrance to the parking lot is 8/10 mile south of Memorial Bridge on the George Washington Memorial Parkway (the road along the river going to Reagan National Airport). Stay in right lane and turn right into parking area. The nearest Metro stop is Arlington National Cemetery a mile away. Contact Leader for further directions if coming by Metro.
Information: An opportunity to appreciate interesting memorials and Park sites not well known, a loop route with the rare experience of crossing both Memorial Bridge and 14th St. Bridge (aka Rochambeau Bridge). AND, an ideal opportunity to bring your leashed family dog. Bring water and snacks. At end of hike, there is a casual cafe overlooking the Pentagon lagoon, and indoor toilet facilities.
