Ready to Party???
Our Social Program is ready to offer some great events for your pleasure! But, we are looking for help in planning and organizing them.

The Club has not had many parties during the past few years for lack of volunteers to share the work, and the fun. Now we have a leader and we need you to step up to help. Ideas can range from traditional parties with music and dancing to unique smaller gatherings like wine tastings, game nights, and costume parties. Does your condo/apartment have a party room? Share it with us. Our parties can also be in restaurants, boats, homes and back yards. If you would like to participate in party planning or have ideas that you would like to share, contact the Committee Leader, Toni Castagnolo.

SCWDC Bridge Club is Active Again!
Trudy Reeves is re-organizing this once popular passtime for the Club. But, the group will organize by e-mail only! To get on the bridge e-mail list contact Trudy. The host determines the date, time, location and number of tables. Fee is $5 (for snacks and drinks whether consumed or not), payable to the host. Please let Trudy know if you can volunteer as host. Trudy will explain all the requirements and also send out an e-mail to everyone on the list.

Don’t miss the fun - join us for The 7th Annual SCWDC Virginia Beach Labor Day Weekend Trip. You’ve heard us all talking about it, and you can ask anyone who’s been there. This is the trip of the year, with non-stop entertainment and music. If the sun, surf, beaches and volleyball are your thing, we’ve got it. If you want to participate in a Half-Marathon, it’s right here! If Happy Hour on the rooftop, dancing, and big name live music until the late hours of the evening do it for you, we’ve got that too. You can have it all!

We will stay at our favorite family owned motel, the Flagship Motel, located directly across Atlantic Boulevard from the ocean, and less than a block away from the Virginia Beach Music Festival 5th Street Stage – the main venue of this festival. There are also some great seafood restaurants nearby.

Transportation: We will depart from Northern Virginia by bus on Friday, August 29th, at 10 AM and return to our point of departure on Monday evening, September 1st (it is about a 4 hour trip).

The price for the trip is per person, based on double occupancy, and includes bus transportation, snacks and beverages on the bus, lodging for 3 nights, and an SCWDC Happy Hour every evening at the hotel. Also included in the price, the VA Beach Music Festival. Any questions, contact Pete or Sharon.

Old Town Alexandria Parking Directions
Starting with parking closest to Bistro Europa (which is midway down King Street) where we plan to have frequent monthly Saturday events.

· Corner of St. Asaph and Cameron Streets is (a municipal parking lot charging $2.50 all day on Saturdays paid in advance). From Bistro Europa headed east, cross Washington Street and make a left at the next cross street which is St. Aspha and the next street parallel to King is Cameron.

· If that is full, you can go east on King one more block and make a right on to Pitt and an immediate left into the hotel underground parking lot ($12 for 24 hours).

· There is a municipal parking garage two blocks east of the King Street courthouse, under the main city square. While on King, pass the square (you will see the fountains) and make the first left on to Fairfax Street and immediately turn left into this underground lot (which is across the street from the Visitors Center. On Saturdays you can park $2 for the day. This is about 8 short blocks from the Bistro..)

· Another option is to take the metro and take the free DASH bus from the metro station, which goes down King Street almost to the water. The walk from the King Street metro about 20 minutes.

For weekend events in Old Town Alexandria when you are probably there for longer than a couple hours; suggest you not park at a meter as that limits you to 2 hours. Parking on neighborhood streets limits you to 2 or 3 hours; check the signs.

For evening happy hour/dinner events in Old Town Alexandria, you can park on the street at most meters free after 6 PM; check the meters.
