Welcome to our Cultural Tours and Festivals Program. We plan to bring you an assortment of carefully planned cultural events, tours, and festivals. They range from guided walking tours, visits to historical houses and places, viewings of art exhibits, attending cultural lectures, outings to local festivals, and cultural happenings in this area or other cities.

You are always welcome to suggest or arrange and lead an activity.

Treasures of Afghanistan

Location: National Gallery of Art, East Building

At 11:30AM we will watch a short National Geographic documentary film narrated by celebrated Afghan-American author, Khaled Hosseini, author of The Kite Runner, which features footage of the recovery of collections from the National Museum, Kabul, that had been hidden in the vaults of the Central Bank in the presidential palace. Following the film and lunch we'll tour the exhibit with explores the cultural significance of the treasures and illustrates the story of their discovery, excavation, and heroic rescue.
